Matko Vekić was born in 1970 in Zagreb. His academic positions include the Assistant Professor from 2007-2011 and the Associate Professor from 2011-present at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. Since 1995, he had 35 solo exhibitions (Croatia, Italy, Germany, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina). He participated in the running of art colonies in Croatia and abroad. His work was featured in Croatian artists' exhibitions at international art events. Matko studied in Japan, Turkey and India (twice).
